WOD You Do Last Night?

Did you see that? I just used the term "WOD"...do you know what that means? Yep, that's a CrossFit term...and I did it!!! That's right, I tried CrossFit last night for the first time. Let me just start off by saying I got my ass kicked.

Well now that I got that out of the way let me tell you what exactly we did. And if you are a CrossFiter please ignore the terrible breakdown and improper use of terms/workouts. ;-) I am new at this after all!

So, first we started with a warm up which included 2 laps around the building, ball squats, this thing with a PVC pipe where you stretch it behind your head and then bring it forward over your head, toe kicks, various lunges, and duck walks. Then we got to practice double unders for the next 20 minutes. Once we completed that, the official workout of the day (WOD) started.

As many rounds as possible in 6 minutes, 9 minutes and then one completed round for time.

This was one round:
100m sprint
20 wall balls
20 ab mat sit ups
20 burpees
10 push press
30 double unders (or 90 single unders)

First we started with a 6 minute clock and finished as many rounds as we could. I completed 1 full round in that time. We then took a 2 minute rest. Next, we were clocked for 9 minutes and I completed 1 round and up to 18 wall balls. Another 2 minute rest. Then, finally, we were clocked while completing one full round. I completed my round in 5 minutes and 30 some odd seconds. (I think). By that point I was pretty wiped out and not really paying attention to the times.

So, after working out I was mentally and physically spent. I was told by numerous people that was an insane workout to complete on my first day and they would be surprised if I wanted to come back. I am happy to report I absolutely want to try it again. Looking back I really had a lot of fun and it was an incredible workout. I have never worked out that hard before and I was pouring buckets of sweat by the end! It is also a really nice change of pace. I am not sure if I have ever mentioned this before, but I despise running. I do it because I understand I will see results if I keep at it. So I run, and I run some more. Not enjoying one second. With CrossFit I actually enjoyed working out for a change and dare I say it the sprints were the part to look forward to (along with the jump rope)! Plus, when I got on the scale this morning I was down 2 pounds! I have been trying to workout and focus on my diet for Vegas for so long now and I have seen zero results. Finally, I tried something new and actually got to see immediate results! Not to mention my legs are like solid as a rock today :-).

Tell me about your evening! What did you do last night?
Have you ever tried CrossFit? What did you think?
What are you doing this weekend?
