About Damn Time

I have been waiting for this day for a long few weeks. Today marked the start of my vacation! Woohoo!! I officially have the next ten days off work, yes you heard that right...TEN!

So, a few weeks ago I was invited to visit The Greystone Inn with a good friend of mine for their early birthday gift. We leave this Sunday morning and return from there on Tuesday afternoon. I am really not sure what to expect of this place, but it looks absolutely beautiful. As I understand it is an all inclusive resort which we can enjoy golf, tennis, hiking, canoeing  kayaking, etc. One night we even get to go on a champagne boat cruise! Each evening we are provided a six course dinner prepared by their own chef. It definitely sounds like a fabulous time and I can't wait! I'll come back with the full det's later!

When I return on Tuesday and through Wednesday i'll be busy unpacking, washing and repacking my clothes for my early flight out on Thursday. Thursday morning is the day I leave for Vegas!!!

I won't be posting for a little while until I return that following week. I'll have lots of pictures and posts of my trips to share! Well, only if what happens there really doesn't stay there...i'll just have to find out. ;-)

Have a fabulous week, friends!

WOD You Do Last Night?

Did you see that? I just used the term "WOD"...do you know what that means? Yep, that's a CrossFit term...and I did it!!! That's right, I tried CrossFit last night for the first time. Let me just start off by saying I got my ass kicked.

Well now that I got that out of the way let me tell you what exactly we did. And if you are a CrossFiter please ignore the terrible breakdown and improper use of terms/workouts. ;-) I am new at this after all!

So, first we started with a warm up which included 2 laps around the building, ball squats, this thing with a PVC pipe where you stretch it behind your head and then bring it forward over your head, toe kicks, various lunges, and duck walks. Then we got to practice double unders for the next 20 minutes. Once we completed that, the official workout of the day (WOD) started.

As many rounds as possible in 6 minutes, 9 minutes and then one completed round for time.

This was one round:
100m sprint
20 wall balls
20 ab mat sit ups
20 burpees
10 push press
30 double unders (or 90 single unders)

First we started with a 6 minute clock and finished as many rounds as we could. I completed 1 full round in that time. We then took a 2 minute rest. Next, we were clocked for 9 minutes and I completed 1 round and up to 18 wall balls. Another 2 minute rest. Then, finally, we were clocked while completing one full round. I completed my round in 5 minutes and 30 some odd seconds. (I think). By that point I was pretty wiped out and not really paying attention to the times.

So, after working out I was mentally and physically spent. I was told by numerous people that was an insane workout to complete on my first day and they would be surprised if I wanted to come back. I am happy to report I absolutely want to try it again. Looking back I really had a lot of fun and it was an incredible workout. I have never worked out that hard before and I was pouring buckets of sweat by the end! It is also a really nice change of pace. I am not sure if I have ever mentioned this before, but I despise running. I do it because I understand I will see results if I keep at it. So I run, and I run some more. Not enjoying one second. With CrossFit I actually enjoyed working out for a change and dare I say it the sprints were the part to look forward to (along with the jump rope)! Plus, when I got on the scale this morning I was down 2 pounds! I have been trying to workout and focus on my diet for Vegas for so long now and I have seen zero results. Finally, I tried something new and actually got to see immediate results! Not to mention my legs are like solid as a rock today :-).

Tell me about your evening! What did you do last night?
Have you ever tried CrossFit? What did you think?
What are you doing this weekend?

Lovin' II

Hey friends, Happy Friday!

Today I bring to you another week of things I am lovin'! I tried some new things this week so I am really excited to share. Although I am sure everyone has tried one of them ;-). A little slow jumping on that bandwagon! Anyways, here is my Lovin' II list!

Dunkin' Donuts Mint Chocolate Chip Iced Coffee - Have you seen the commercials? I couldn't resist and stopped in on Sunday to get one. It is so delicious! I may or may not have had two more since...

My Brother's New House! - My brother, Chris closed on his very first house yesterday! Such an exciting process for him and I can't wait to see it fully decorated and when he is all finished moving in! He bought a beautiful 1 story 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home on a little over an acre in Fuquay Varina. I'll try and snap some pictures as it comes together to share!

Chobani Greek Yogurt - Okay, I know, I am way a little behind the curve on this one, but I've never been a huge fan of yogurt. Lets just say something has changed because this stuff is ridiculous!! So delicious. I especially love the pineapple one.

And finally...

Love - Yep, I am lovin' love this week. Since the Boston Marathon tragedy on Monday there has been such a tremendous amount of love and togetherness being shown across the nation. It is amazing the strength being shown in the blogger community, neighboring states, and just through everyone as a whole. It is sad this is what it takes to bring us together, but it is amazing what we can do when we are united. From Sarah Fit's blog video at the Boston Bruins hockey game to a local Raleigh, NC blogger who shared a beautiful story of her heroic friend all the way to the New York Yankees showing their support. It really is amazing how we can come together and really show our love for one another.

What are you lovin' this week? Anything I need to try?

Have a great weekend, y'all!

Boston Marathon

My heart is heavy for those affected in yesterdays tragedy at the Boston Marathon. My thoughts and prayers are with the runners, families, children and friends who were involved. I hope for fast recoveries for the ones injured and great strength for the families and friends of those who are no longer with us today.

Today, and every day take the time to be thankful for your life and loved ones. Make sure to laugh every chance you get and take every chance you can to show your love to your family, friends and strangers. Live. Laugh. Love. Each and every day.

Lovin'

Hey guys! Happy Friday!! The weekend is finally here. Oh, and only two more weeks until my vacation officially starts! No big deal.

I am going to start a new fun Friday post to share with you the things I am currently lovin'. I'll post some new items every week or so and you can share with me things your lovin' too!

What I am lovin'...

Juicy Couture Chunky Link Bracelet. I was not able to get the exact picture from the Juicy website, but if you click the link you can see the actual one. I am loving these gold chunk bracelets. I found this one on sale a few weeks ago, but I still haven't bit the bullet. I am looking for something similar, but I love the rhinestone detailing on this one!

DSW's clearance section. I went to DSW a few weeks ago and was able to snag a sweet pair of brown wedges for 80% off! I stopped by again last weekend and found a cute pair of black and white pumps for 40% off! They really have some cute heels, boots, flats, sandals for really good prices.

The Weather. I mean, how killer is this lineup for next week? Lovin' the spring/summer temperatures! Well, the pollen could go, but hey, it won't be here long!

Green Juice. I have been trying some different juice combinations recently and I am addicted! It is so delicious and it really keeps you full for a while. I am still playing with different combinations to figure out the perfect juice. I'll share it once I get there! Oh, and I have been using a blender so until I buy a juicer I am working with more of a pureed type juice ;-).

Sunny. Of course, I couldn't make a list of things I am lovin' and not inclue Sunny!

And finally...my final thing I am lovin' this week is my loot from my shopping trip last week! Here is a picture of everything I got...(from top left to top right) pumps, coral shorts, blue shorts, black shorts, gold earrings, gold watch. (Down to the bottom left to bottom right) Black bathing suit cover up, bathing suit top and bottom, wristlet purse, black/white sheer top, black tank.

What are you lovin' lately?
Any plans this weekend? Not much going on over here. Going to breakfast tomorrow at The Flying Biscuit Cafe. I love this place! We'll see what else the weekend holds. Definitely lots of outdoor activities with the beautiful weather!

Have a great weekend, friends!

Spring Style

With my trip to Vegas fastly approaching and the spring weather slowly coming in I have been in desperate need of a wardrobe update! I am going to do some shopping this weekend in hopes to find some cute things at fairly reasonable prices. I plan to go to the local mall, target, and a few other random shops along the way. I definitely do not like spending a lot of money on clothes so I really hope there are some good sales out there!

I am looking for a few specific items and also just going to browse some stores and see if I can find any inspiration for party clothes! Here is some of what I am looking for:

Colorful shorts. I tried these on at Target and really liked them so I think I am going to go back and snag a couple of different colors. I really liked the yellow and coral. Maybe black too?

Wristlet/Clutch. Again, I found this one at target...maybe I don't need to go anywhere else? I am looking for just a simple and small bag to have to bring with me around on vacation. I typically carry big purses which will not be ideal out of town. I thought this turquoise wristlet could be dressed up or dressed down. What do you think?

Bathing Suit. Boy am I dreading this one! I hate bathing suit shopping. Hopefully it will be quick and painless although I am not really sure what I am looking for here, but something colorful and fun.

Bathing Suit Cover Up: I have a few cover up dresses, but I am a sucker for a fun new one!

Striped Top: I have seen so many pictures of  black and white striped tops with jeans or colorful shorts and I love it! Maybe I'll be able to find a cute sweater or top like that to go with my shorts! How cute is this jacket?

I am also looking for some fun tops and a house warming gift for my brother. He bought a house! He moves in later this month so I am looking for a fun gift for him and his girlfriend. They have a safari/animal print themed room so I am thinking some sort of animal statue since he is always jokingly stealing my wooden 6 ft giraffe! Luckily he doesn't read my blog ;-).

What spring trends are you digging this season?
