Week 1: Goals in Review

Remember my post reviewing my current goals to get myself ready for Las Vegas? Well lets check in and see how I am doing on these goals!
  1. Diet, diet, diet! My friend, Nate has helped me create a meal plan for me to stick by. Lots of lean meats, less carbs, and veggies. Smaller portions, too!
    • I have actually been doing really well on the diet front. My meals have been smart choices and I have been keeping my portions in check.
  2. Exercise. I have been slacking in the workout department. I want to continue to run harder and further each day and also add additional workouts when I can. Including biking, jogging, walking and sports on the weekends and after work.
    • This has also been going well. My morning runs for the most part have been good and we did a nice long run last Saturday and plan to do the same this Saturday. I also got in a nice hike on Wednesday night. I still need to improve on adding more workouts after work, but I do feel good about what I have been doing. Softball season is also starting very soon so that will fill my Sunday's up with some nice exercise.
  3. Get started with CrossFit. I have been putting this off again for some reason. It's time to check it out already!
    • And this is where I fall off the wagon...I have changed my mind again. Although I would love to start CrossFit I am still stuck on the damn price. Every single person I have ever talked to says it is beyond worth it once you start, but I just cannot justify it in my mind. I think I am going to remove this from my list and focus on the workouts that I am doing now and adding in additional workouts. I just feel like where I am right now with saving to buy a house it is not the best idea to take on a $150+ bill a month. That money could be much better used in my savings account!! This is absolutely still one of my long term goals to try, but for now I have postponed.
  4. Drink more water.
    • I have been doing well with drinking more water! Typically I drink 4 bottles a day at work and then some at home and before bed. I definitely need to keep this up and even drink more when I can.
  5. Have fun! I am so excited for Las Vegas I cannot stop thinking about it. With it being in the back of my mind I know the future trip will motivate me to enjoy what I am doing and have fun!
    • Well this one is easy! ;-) I have been having a blast planning and getting ready for Vegas. I can't wait!!
All in all I think I have done really well. I feel good about the food I have had to eat and about the workouts I have done. Although my weigh-in this morning did not reflect any change (which is a complete bummer), I physically feel better in the clothes I am wearing and how they fit. We are officially 5 weeks away so I really hope to see some change on the scale next week.

Have a great weekend!

Survey!

1.     First thing you do when you wake up in the morning. Turn off my alarm clock and look at my phone to text my workout partner to make sure they are awake and ready to run!
2. First thing you reach for when you open the fridge. Typically I stand there and stare for a few seconds and then open the drawers.
3. First things you do when you get to the gym. Clean off the machine and get my music set up.
4. First thing you do when you get home from work. Get changed into my less presentable clothes ;-).
5. First car. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I loved this car and I know my next car will be another Jeep.
6. First car accident / traffic violation. I went to move my friends car into my garage stall and clipped the side of my house. Oopsies!
7. First thing you wanted to be when you grew up. The first thing I wanted to be when I was growing up was a wedding planner. I was slightly obsessed with the Jennifer Lopez & Matthew McConaughey movie.
8. First beverage of choice. Probably water. But I love milk too.
9. First choice breakfast. Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel.
10. First choice dessert. This is a tough one! Probably carrot cake or gooey brownies.
11. First song that comes to mind. Suite & Tie by Justin Timberlake. My latest obsession.
12. First major purchase. My second car! I bought a 2009 Scion TC a few years ago. Hopefully a house will be the next!
13. First job. I worked at Vinny's pizza as the to-go/cashier person.
14. First time you flew on a plane. I am pretty sure the first time I was on a plane was when I was around 4 years old going to Disney.

Your turn! Answer 1 or more of the questions!

Crunch Time

It is officially crunch time, baby!

Crunch time for what, you might ask? I am going to VEGAS!!!!!!

What happens here, stays here? So they say...

Yesterday, my cousin from CO asked if I would be interested in a girls trip to Vegas with a few of her friends. Um? Hell yeah! I have officially booked my ticket and the countdown has begun :-) I clearly don't waste any time!

We are leaving in early May so I have about 5 weeks to drop 10-15 pounds. I feel like I might be shooting a little high, but at 2-3 pounds a week I know I can do it if I really focus on my diet and workouts. I chose a high goal because initially I was hoping to be down to my happy weight by summer. Since it's going to be hot in Vegas in May this goal has been shortened by a month! Now I need to be bathing suit ready sooner.

I have created a list of goals to help motivate me:
  1. Diet, diet, diet! My friend, Nate has helped me create a meal plan for me to stick by. Lots of lean meats, less carbs, and veggies. Smaller portions, too!
  2. Exercise. I have been slacking in the workout department. I want to continue to run harder and further each day and also add additional workouts when I can. Including biking, jogging, walking and sports on the weekends and after work.
  3. Get started with CrossFit. I have been putting this off again for some reason. It's time to check it out already!
  4. Drink more water.
  5. Have fun! I am so excited for Las Vegas I cannot stop thinking about it. With it being in the back of my mind I know the future trip will motivate me to enjoy what I am doing and have fun!
Have you ever been to Vegas?

Week of Goals 3-18

Happy Tuesday, friends!

How was your weekend? Mine was full of sports! I played in a softball tournament on Saturday with the lady Divas. We played a total of 4 games on Saturday and we ended up winning 2 and losing 2. The team went back out for more games on Sunday and finished the tournament in 2nd place. Not too bad for our first tournament together. I bailed on the team Sunday because my family had tickets to the ACC Championship game! It was a lot of fun and a great game. Oh, and Miami won their first ACC Championship ever! It's all about the U, baby!

After the final buzzer!

I noticed over the weekend that my diet was a little screwed up and I needed to get it back in order this week. On Saturday since I was at the field from 10 am until 9 pm I packed a bunch of fruit and granola and peanut butter to eat between games and during our breaks. Once I left the field I was absolutely starving. So the first place I saw was Burger King and since I had an hour drive ahead of me I stopped in and ordered a chicken sandwich with fries to eat on the way home. On Sunday we went to the game and had lunch at the coliseum. At the game I had some nachos and chicken tenders. I do love me some stadium food but it is so not nutritious.

With that being said, its time to crank up the diet this week! Here are a few things I hope to improve on...
  1. Drink more water! I have really been slacking in the water department lately. I am going to drink 4-5 (16.9 fl oz) bottles a day at work. Then, at home instead of juice or milk stick with water as well.
  2. Eat less carbs. My diet has been very carb heavy lately and this week I am going to cut a lot out.
  3. Portion control. This one has always been an issue with me. I need to cut back on my dinner portions and eat less!
  4. Have lunch prepared the evening before. Typically, I head home for my lunch break and heat leftovers so I really need to make sure to have options available for when I head home to ensure I am having a nutritious lunch.
Lets hope I can stick to my goals this week and continue them into next week, too!

Do you have any weekly goals?

Cat Shaming...Sort Of.

As I so kindly teased you about yesterday, we had to sham Sunny a little bit this weekend! He is acting a little rotten lately and gave my dad a nice little scratch on his nose on Saturday. Sunny has never acted bad towards my dad because he knows it will not fly! If he wants any attention or love from dad he better behave. So this weekend after he scratched my dad's face Sunny knew he was not being "talked to". When my dad went outside after the incident happened Sunny decided he wanted to apologize to "dadums" and get out of the doghouse. So he made a cute little sign apologizing to him and asked "dadums" to not be mad at him anymore. When my dad came in from outside he saw this cute little orangie sitting on the couch waiting for him...

"Sorry 4 being a bad tabby. Don't be mad @ me dadums"
My mom and I were waiting around the corner to see his reaction to Sunny's new collar note. Lets just say Sunny was not in the doghouse long and we all laughed so hard we were crying!

He really is a handsome little devil isn't he!?

Back In Action

Last week was not a good week for me! I was sick on Sunday and Monday and was just out of sorts and not 100% for the rest of the week. My diet was also all sorts of messed up, too since I could barely eat a whole egg without being stuffed. I relaxed and did not workout and even went out of town to Lake Gaston to get some much needed R&R for the weekend. Today, I started working out and running again in the morning and am back to eating regularly scheduled meals. It feels great to be back in a routine and schedule!

I am terrible when it comes to being sick so I am a little obsessed with staying healthy. I wash my hands and/or use hand sanitizer at least 30 times a day, I take vitamins on a daily basis, and I sanitize/clean excessively when someone around me is sick. Fortunately, all of that paid off considering this was my first time being sick in over two years! I can only hope I am not sick again for another 2-3 years, especially working in an industry with a lot of hand shakes.

Anyways, I am back in action and I can't wait to tell you about our cat shaming story ;-) Here is a little teaser...
Somebody knew dad was mad at them...
