Whelp, my first CrossFit class did not go as planned. Or did not go at all...
Sunday night I came down with the stomach flu. Just my luck.
I have been e-mailing with someone who works at the local box and we are working on rescheduling my trial session.
What a bummer. But, I'll report back soon with my first CrossFit class!

As you know, it is one of my goals to try new things, so I decided to check it out. I am booked for Monday at 6:00am for a free trial and I cannot wait! I am very nervous for whats in store, but I think it is going to be awesome!!

Thursday Eats
I see a lot of What I Ate Wednesday or WIAW posts on some of the blogs I read, so I wanted to share some of the foods I ate today. As you know I am trying to navigate through a journey of weight loss and figuring out what healthy, nutritious foods are delicious and satisfying at the same time.
One of my biggest problems is breakfast. I used to take advantage of the convenience of the local fast food joints to get a quick meal on the way into work, but that didn't do me any good. So, I have had to find alternatives for the benefit of my wallet and my ass.
Around 8:00 I ate a breakfast burrito with 1 egg and ground turkey sausage. I made this in a small flour tortilla with a little cheddar cheese on top. This kept me very satisfied and tasted great! I also ate a banana around 11:00 since I knew I wasn't going to be able to get to lunch until after 1:00 today.
Lunch can be a struggle because I can't always leave work as I planned. Sometimes I am stuck with choosing the surrounding fast food places and even a salad from there can sabotage any ones diet. Fortunately, I can usually get an hour away and more than likely I head home to make a quick and healthy lunch. Today, I got to do just that! I enjoyed half of a grilled chicken and veggie wrap with carrot sticks and a cup of white cheddar popcorn.
Dinner is all about portion control! My family likes to eat around 7:30 which is a long time since lunch. I find that I struggle with finding time to eat a snack between these meals so I go home starving and ready to pick. While dinner is being made I taste this, and nibble that. Not a good thing to do. So, I am trying to work in afternoon snacks that will keep me satisfied until dinner. For a snack today I had a nutri-grain bar.
For dinner I had a piece of tilapia (half of whats pictured), garlic rice and roasted asparagus.
I ended it all with dove chocolates. How did those sneak in there?
Today was just a so-so day on the diet front. I definitely need to work on my portion controls. What do you think?

2012 Accomplishments & A Little About Me
After going through my 2013 goals yesterday, I wanted to recap what I accomplished in 2012. I would say I had a pretty good year and hope this one is even better!
In 2012, I...
In 2012, I...
- Graduated College! I attended Wake Technical Community College for a few years and completed my Associates in Science for Business Administration. I also received a Business Core Certificate when I attended.
- Received my Life & Health Insurance Licenses. I am an insurance agent and I currently work at a local office in Cary. In order to become a licensed agent you have to take numerous classes and tests through the state to become certified. They break it down into sections of life, health, property (home) and casualty (auto) insurance. I received my property and casualty licenses in 2010 and recently received by life and health in 2012. I am fully licensed now to sell insurance in NC.
- Started my weight loss journey. I finally decided enough was enough! After falling into bad eating habits and gaining weight I decided to make a lifestyle change to lose weight and find ways to enjoy fitness by trying new things.
- Ran my first 5k! In October of last year I ran my first 5k race through Color Me Rad. I am currently working on preparing for a second 5k I plan to do in May of 2013.
- Received my concealed handgun permit. I had been wanting to get my permit for a while to take a course on safety and handling of firearms. I had the opportunity to last year, so I jumped at the chance and received my permit. I am now much more comfortable with handguns and I feel I am able to protect myself in the event of an emergency.
I am going to start a bucket list of goals I want to accomplish, too! Stay posted for that!!

2013 Goals
I have made a list of goals for 2013 that I hope to actually stick to and accomplish for once! Here is what I have come up with so far...
Have you made any goals for 2013?
- Continue on my weight loss journey. I hope to get down to my goal weight by the end of the year. I am currently working on changing my lifestyle to include more health foods and fitness.
- Try new things. While on my weight loss journey through health and fitness I hope to try new (fitness) activities that I have never done before like crossfit.
- Meet new people. I no longer talk with many of the people I hung out with while in school, so I would like to try and meet new people through fitness and trying new things.
- Save, save, save! I am hoping to buy a house in my near future, so saving is a top priority.
Have you made any goals for 2013?
